Review: Project Runway 814 - Finale, Part 2

Season 8 is officially over. No matter how much the producers wanted to stretch this season out (making each episode an hour and a half, making the finale TWO hours long complete with a twenty minute season-wide reunion) they couldn’t stop the inevitable.

Our thoughts on the finale:

  • Was it really that necessary to include the reunion? After a while, we were so bored we started fast-fowarding. It was cool to see some of our favorite designers again (Ahem: Valerie and Christopher) but still.
  • If anyone is wondering, as we were, the song that accompanied Gretchen’s runway collection is “Icarus” by White Hinterland. Find it here. In our opinion, the song perfectly accompanied her show.
  • Did Jessica Simpson really contribute anything to the final critique? Come on, producers. If you really want someone valuable, have Naeem Khan or (our favorite judge of the season) Georgina Chapman on.
  • Do we agree with Gretchen winning? Even though we think she deserved to have won, we think Mondo is equally deserving. In our opinion, the judges placed too much emphasis on their last show. If Mondo lost the crazy hairpieces and went for more relaxed hair, we’re sure he could have pulled it off. Why can’t there be two winners?
